When AI keeps asking you the same questions
And how to tell which cause you have.
Being asked your situation for the fourth time is not a bug report anyone files. It is just annoying enough to absorb, which is why it never gets fixed.
First, check the boring cause
Memory features are not always on by default, and a new conversation in some apps deliberately starts clean. Before concluding anything, open the settings and confirm memory is switched on, and check whether you are in a mode that is designed not to remember. A surprising share of this problem is that one toggle.
The second cause: it remembers, but not the useful part
An app can be keeping a memory of you that is real but shallow. It captured that you cook, not that you are off meat this month. It captured your job title, not the project you are three weeks into. So it stops asking the broad questions and keeps asking the specific ones, which are the ones that were actually costing you time.
You can usually tell these apart in a minute: open whatever the app shows you of its memory and read it. If there is nothing to open, that is its own answer.
The third cause: it is not one AI
If you use more than one AI app, each one starts from zero on you, and none of them can see what the others learned. Every good answer you set up in one is unavailable in the next. This is the case that no setting fixes, because nothing is broken; the context is simply in the wrong place.
A quick diagnostic. Ask, in a fresh conversation, "what do you know about me?" If the answer is nothing, memory is off or unsupported. If it is a thin sketch, the memory is shallow. If it is accurate but only in one app, the context is trapped where it was learned.
What stops it for good
The repetition ends when the context stops being a byproduct of one app's conversations and becomes something kept on purpose. Held once, readable, corrected when it goes out of date, and supplied to whichever AI you are asking.
That is what Tessera is for. It is not an AI, so it is not competing with the app you like. It is the memory layer underneath it, and the visible result is short questions getting answers that already fit.

Why does AI keep asking me questions I already answered?
Usually one of three reasons: memory is switched off, the memory it keeps is too shallow to cover the specifics, or you use more than one AI app and each starts from nothing about you.
How do I check what an AI remembers about me?
Most apps with memory have a screen listing it. Opening it and reading it is the fastest diagnostic. If there is nothing to open, the app is not keeping a memory you can inspect.
Does using several AI apps make the repetition worse?
Yes, and no setting fixes it. Each app learns about you separately and cannot see what the others learned, so the same explanation gets given once per app.
